Patient Participation Group

Our mission  as a Patient Participation Group

  • To act as the voice of the patient population
  • To encourage increased communication and dialogue between patients and the practice
  • To allow patients to take more responsibility for their own healthcare
  • To support the practice and the local community

Who is on the Patient Participation Group?

The group comprises a representative GP, Melissa Parsloe, Clare Burton plus patients drawn from across the surgery.

What the Patient Participation Group is not about

We will not deal with personal medical issues or individual patient complaints as there is already a well established procedure to deal with these.

Where are we today?

Since the introduction of the Patient Group in June 2010, we have been extremely lucky to have had a very proactive and committed membership.

Join our Patient Participation Group

All registered patients are able to join our Patient Participation Group. People of all genders, ages, ethnicities, and those with health conditions and disabilities are encouraged to join.

Members should as far as possible, be representative of the surgery population.

Achievements

The members of the Patient Group have worked together to implement new ideas, increase health awareness in the community and support the practice. Some of our successes have included:

The organisation and management of several health awareness events including at the Winchcombe Show and local high school, helping raise awareness of on-line repeat prescription ordering and supporting an ‘Aging well exercise course’ to help get the community moving that was trialled. These have received extremely encouraging feedback and show the direct connection between the work of the Patient Group and a real positive impact for a large number of people. This gives patients a greater understanding of their most relevant and important health issues.

Health awareness events have covered a wide range of topics including:

  • Access to services – Pharmacy first, Physiotherapy
  • Diabetes
  • Mental health
  • Men’s health
  • Teenage health
  • Menopause
  • Lifestyle advice
