We offer a range of clinics and services at the surgery. There are some tasks you can do, such as health reviews, using our online forms.
Our nurses offer a range of services including:
- Annual review appointments for those who suffer with chronic diseases.
- Cervical smears.
- Smoking cessation support.
- Blood tests.
- Ear syringing.
- Foreign travel.
- Childhood immunisations.
- NHS health checks.
Long acting reversible contraception
Winchcombe Medical Centre offers appointments for LARC – Long acting reversible contraception. These are:
- The contraceptive injection which lasts between 8-13 weeks.
- The contraceptive implant which lasts up to 3 years.
- The intrauterine system which lasts 3-5 years.
- The intrauterine device which lasts 5-10 years.

Minor surgery
A special clinic is held for minor surgical procedures. Please make an appointment with your doctor for an initial assessment, after which you will be placed on the waiting list and notified by letter when a date can be offered to you for your minor surgery.
Minor injury service
We are also pleased to offer a dedicated Minor Injuries Service. This service is run by our team of nurses and supported by our GPs. If you or someone you are with suffers from a minor injury (laceration, fall, bite etc) you can attend the surgery straight away for an appointment. Phoning helps us to make necessary arrangements to treat you but is not essential. We hope you find this service reduces unnecessary visits to A&E. An exclusion from our minor injuries service is suspected broken bones. We do not have X-ray equipment on site so would need to refer any patients attending with a suspected broken bone on to the larger hospitals.
We are also supported from a wider range of health care professionals.
Midwifery service
Our community midwife leads all antenatal care for expectant mothers. She offers appointments at the surgery on Wednesday afternoons. Messages can be left for our midwife at the surgery or if more urgent, she can be contacted on 0300 421 6175 and requesting the antenatal clinic.
District nurses
The practice is supported by a team of District Nurses who offer care in the community to those who are housebound or suffering with a terminal illness. You can contact the district nursing team via 0300 421 6070 option 2.
Health visitors
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
