The Patient Group at Winchcombe Medical Centre have organised an event on 30th April 2024 called “Dying Matters”

The purpose of the evening is to encourage people to begin conversations with their family and friends about being prepared for the end of our lives.

This really matters. We plan for so many aspects of our lives from where we want to go on holiday or whether we intend to have children. We plan parties, weddings and all sorts of special occasions. The one area of life we often neglect to plan for is the end of our life and eventual death. Planning is important if we want to maintain autonomy and control over our life and how, and where, we would like to die.

Writing a Will ensures that our wishes are carried out after our death and makes things much easier for our loved ones. They know the decisions we have made because we have written them down. We can also plan for a time when we may not have the mental capacity to make decisions regarding our care or we may not be able to manage our finances independently.

Our event will look at various aspects of death and dying. We hope it will encourage you to begin these important conversations with the people you care about. We hope it will demystify what can feel like a difficult subject. We hope to bust some common myths along the way.

We warmly invite you to attend. Despite the subject matter we assure you it will be a positive and life affirming evening.
