All patients can now access information and associated letters, as well as receive reminders about appointments at Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals, in the NHS App. The new update means all Gloucestershire Hospitals patients receiving reminders and digital letters will be notified via the NHS App if they have it downloaded and notifications are enabled.
If you do not open the notification within a few hours, you will receive a follow-up text message. Patients who do not have the NHS App will continue to receive notifications and reminders, according to preferences.
Some patients have raised concerns about phishing and safety when clicking on links from text messages, and while text messages from DrDoctor’s number 07860 039092 are always safe, the use of the NHS app removes the need to respond to text messages altogether. You can also log into your patient portal via the direct link at any time: drdoctor.thirdparty.nhs.uk. Look for the Trust logo at the top, just click ‘sign in with another care provider’ if it doesn’t show Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Alternatively, you can download the NHS App, then tap on ‘Upcoming and past appointments’ then ‘Hospital referrals and appointments’ where you will see Gloucestershire Hospitals appointment information. Tapping on this will open up a browser window to view the Patient Portal; you will not be required to enter any further sign-in information.
The NHS App is a fantastic way of accessing all things health in one safe, secure place, including prescriptions, GP and hospital appointments, referrals and waiting list progress.
